What are the urban living rooms made of?
Malmi and Vallila's teams produce various small events at the living rooms with an 18-year age limit. You can come and go whenever you want, but you should always check the event’s information on the calendar before attending.
Secret cafe
You do not need to buy anything at the Secret Café. You’re allowed to talk between tables, so to speak. Welcome to hang out, chat, catch up, or just be quiet and have a cup of coffee. The café often has leftover buns to offer as well. The Kohtaus crew will be there, you can ask them questions and ask for help if there's anything on your mind.
Note! Please ensure good hand hygiene and do not come if you are ill.
Mixed activities
During Mixed activities, you can experiment with new things, learn new skills and do things together or on your own. You don't need any previous experience. You can participate in whatever way feels good for you.You can get fully involved or simply follow along and get used to doing things in peace. It has included ceramics workshops, animations, miniature paintings, kintsugi, macrame and body care for example.
There are often visiting event hosts.
Deep Dives
Deep Dives is a series of discussion evenings with changing weekly topics. Sometimes deeper, sometimes lighter. Many evenings are led by the Kohtaus crew, but sometimes a more knowledgeable guest is involved. You can participate by actively talking or listening to others. However you feel. Check the calendar to see if the topic is something you want to be involved with from the beginning of the conversation.
Surplus food kiosk
Surplus food kiosks distribute pre-packed food bags, the contents of which change weekly depending on the leftovers that arrive to us from the surplus food terminal of Stadin safka. Fruit, vegetables, bread, dairy products and other shop surplus products. Help us reduce food waste! Kohtaus also offers coffees or teas at the kiosk.
The surplus kiosk is currently only available in Vallila.
Clubs
Sometimes Kohtaus also hosts Friday clubs. There you will find guest artists, theatre performances, comedians or other performance art. Check the dates in Malmi's calendar.
Own slot
Arrange your own event at Kohtaus Malmi. The Crew can help you with that.
We hope that events will be in line with the principles of Kohtaus: politically and religiously unaffiliated, intoxicant-free and free of charge for everyone. For material costs, you can get them covered by us.
The entire urban lounge of Malmi, or only a part of it if you wish, is at your disposal.
Small club space: a stage with sound equipment, lights and a projector. Couches.
Kitchen. Groups of tables. Secret Café side and open space for more free movement. There is always one employee there to help with arrangements and problems.
